The marketing compass

Working remotely as a senior UX specialist for CBA London, a local agency. I was required to assess an existing Sharepoint intranet web page called the marketing compass. Initial research creating a UX audit for the present live compass landing page, encompassing UX best practices. Creating new wireframes for a revised layout with additional content, prototyped & presented back. Reimagining the compass component & creating a new clickable component in Figma. Whilst liaising with a strategy director & working with both the account manager & graphic designer.

The problem in brief

The present live Sharepoint intranet landing page for the marketing compass is broken, there is hierarchical issues, too much copy & white space making the compass component difficult for employees to locate.

Actions: Carryout research putting together a UX audit for the existing landing page, make recommendations for future states. Hand over to the strategy director to present to the client. Redesign the page & create a new compass component. Make good all prototypes with linked pages & hand over assets to the graphic designer for UI design.

Landing page wireframes

After initially presenting my findings from the UX audit, I started to work on revised layouts creating journeys for information served from the marketing compass component. Below we have three variations of future states for the marketing compass landing page.

Compass variations

The present compass is old hat and difficult to read. Here I look at breaking down the content and serving up the information in different formats, starting with the most basic right through to the chosen design.

Final clickable compass component

Below is the final design in its clicked on state, expanding segments showing the foundation & then macro content. Final branded colours applied & a clickable finished in pages component for the prototype.

The solution

After working on the UX audit & handing over to the strategy director for future states. I worked closely with the account manager to complete the wires then collaborating with the graphic designer, with colours applied & the layout tweaked I created the final compass component & implemented it.
